In 2012, NHS Scotland published the Gender Reassignment Protocol CEL 26 (2012) which aimed to provide consistency and equality across Scotland for transgender patients. This Gender Reassignment Protocol (GRP) was amongst the first clinical protocols of its kind in the world, providing patients in Scotland requiring specialist healthcare for gender reassignment with a clear clinical pathway for accessing these treatment options within NHS Scotland.
The Practice has a policy which outlines how transgender patients will be managed from both a clinical and an administrative perspective. Detailed guidance about the procedure, treatment options, tests and medication can be found on NHS Inform.
