Removal from our Patient List

Reasons for Removal

There are a few reasons why you may be removed from our Practice list. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical violence toward anyone within the Practice premises
  • Threat of violence toward anyone within the Practice premises
  • Abusive or disruptive behaviour, irrespective of the reason or influence
  • Theft involving anyone or anything within the Practice premises
  • Criminal damage to the Practice premises
  • Dangerous animals posing a risk within Practice premises or during home visit
  • Fraudulent activities (e.g. amending prescriptions or insurance certificates)
  • Misuse of appointments (i.e. multiple missed appointments)
  • Moving outwith the area

In some cases we reserve the right to remove other members of the household. We will continue to be responsible for the patient’s medical care for a period of up to 14 days from the date of notification to NHS Lanarkshire or until the patient registers with another Practice, whichever is the sooner.

We do not remove patients from our list lightly. We must protect our staff as well as our patients from unacceptable behaviour from other patients or their representatives.
